James Morrison in Concert with the City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band

2pm on Sunday 9th October 2022
Ulumbarra Theatre Bendigo

The Rotary Club of Bendigo South and the Ulumbarra Foundation present a concert fundraiser featuring James Morrison with the City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band.

The City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band has a long history dating back to 1862 with the formation of the Sandhurst Volunteer Band, and from then has always been ready to bring music to Bendigo and surrounds. The band participates in many community events such as ANZAC Day, Easter Processions, community concerts and Christmas carols. They are joined by one of Australia’s most talented and versatile jazz musicians, James Morrison.

James started playing professionally at age 13 and has a stellar professional career behind him: he has performed alongside the best jazz musicians of our generation and has had the privilege of performing for the President and First Lady of the United States. Bring your family and friends and prepare to be blown away by the sheer brilliance that is James Morrison with the amazing City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band.

Proceeds from this concert are shared by the Ulumbarra Foundation – providing special grants for up-and-coming performers, the Rotary Club of Bendigo South’s Scholarship program and the City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band.

ANZAC Day Ceremonies Strongly Supported

The Bendigo community turned out in force for the two ceremonies that the band played at on ANZAC Day 2019. A very large crowd sat and stood for the service at Huntly starting at 9am. Later in the morning Pall Mall was lined with an excellent crowd for the annual march and it was then standing room only for the 11am service at the RSL.

Well done again to Don for leading the band during the march and a special well done to Cally for keeping us on track for the hymns and national anthems. Also congrats to both Fred (Bendigo) and Luka (Huntly) for excellent renditions of the last post.

Brilliant Easter Weekend

The band did itself proud over the Easter 2019 weekend with some outstanding marching in both the Torchlight Procession (Saturday) and the big Gala Parade (Sunday). This year the band kept the huge crowds entertained with a quick paced version of YMCA. We also made use of our colourful plastic instruments to brighten up our presentation.

Well done to Don for leading us through both processions.
